Catalina Capri 22 Fleet 12

Welcome to the Rocky Mountain Capri 22 Fleet 12

We represent the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the National Capri 22 Our fleet occupies lakes all around Colorado. Our fleet is one of the fastest growing fleets in the region. We currently Have 25 boats in the area and with around 20 of these boats being active racing members. The majority of our races are held at Chatfield Reservoir and Carter Lake. Although we focus on racing, we never lose touch with the fact that all of us have a social and fun side as well. The objective of our fleet is to provide a service to promote and encourage excellence in sailing and to promote the sport of sailing in the Rocky Mountain area.

About The Boat

The Catalina Capri is the epitome of a family racing boat. No other 22-foot boat will offer you as much family fun and racing excitement as the Capri 22. In 1985, the Capri 22 was introduced as a high performance family racer/cruiser that could be trailer sailed or kept dockside. And in 2001 the Capri 22 was upgraded to make the boat even easer to maintain. The Capri 22 has proven to be a stable, safe boat, yet one that is fast and fun to sail. With the choice of two different keels and two different rigs you can have a boat tuned specifically for your type of sailing. It has a spacious cockpit for your crew during and after races. The enclosable head feature on this boat makes it perfect for day sailing or weekending. This boat is one of the safer boats in its class, and also one of the easiest boats to maintain, leaving more time to focus on the elements of sailing.

Events
During the off season the fleet as a grope try to get together mid winter and celebrate the upcoming season.

“Chalk Talk” is a series of discussions through out the sailing season to talk about what dose and doesn’t work on a Capri 22. The basis for this discussion is so we can all learn from each other and become better sailors. Topics through out the season might include tuning, sail trim, tacking, jibbing, crew work, towing and traveling to regattas, and any other topics that arise. One more thing about the fleet is that there is always a helping hand if needed.
